Hi I am Aditya, a data scientist based in Bangalore, originally from Mumbai, I work at the intersection of machine learning and financial data.

I came to data science through statistics rather than computer science which shaped how I approach problems. I believe in being rigorous, and whether something actually works matters more to me than whether it is a flashy corporate brownie points winning solution.

Outside of work: I have two cats, and go cycling when Bangalore's traffic allows it, which is less often than I would like.

Fiction is where I spend most of my reading time — the more absurd the premise the better, usually. I believe you learn more about how people actually function by examining their actions in a fictional scenario than from reading non-fiction which sets out to explain the human psyche. What better way to stress-test your assumptions about human behaviour than to put people in situations that couldn't exist?

I write here about whatever I'm thinking about; data science, diy electronics, cycling, food, and the occasional thing that has no category at all. The common thread, if there is one, is that I'm interested in how things actually work.
